{"id":2646,"date":"2016-04-25T17:32:02","date_gmt":"2016-04-25T17:32:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lawyerinthemaking.co.uk\/?p=2646"},"modified":"2016-04-30T15:51:42","modified_gmt":"2016-04-30T15:51:42","slug":"hillsborough","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lawyerinthemaking.co.uk\/index.php\/2016\/04\/25\/hillsborough\/","title":{"rendered":"Hillsborough: Awaiting a decision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So tomorrow that&#8217;s it, Tuesday 26th April, the day the jury announce their decisions after a 2 year trial. \u00a0Can you believe that this fight for justice and fight for answers has been going for 27 years? \u00a0This is still known as the worst sporting disaster in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow at 11am, the world will find out\u00a0what decisions have been reached by the jury, (through a\u00a0majority &#8211;\u00a0seven of nine jurors in this particular case).<\/p>\n<p>As this is an inquest, the inquest process is not binary, and is far more complex than just a &#8216;guilty&#8217; or &#8216;not guilty&#8217; decision.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the\u00a0jurors were\u00a0given a series of 14 questions\u00a0by the coroner (Sir John Goldring) and they had to answer them in full. \u00a0These questions included whether the South Yorkshire Police force were adequately prepared for the 1989 FA Cup semi-final at Hillsborough, whether the stadium was defective, whether the\u00a0owners of Sheffield Wednesday were culpable etc.<\/p>\n<p>So tomorrow the families of the 96 hear the answers of these questions.<\/p>\n<p>There was one particular question which has taken the jury a very long time to decide on &#8211; and a decision has only been reached\u00a0\u00a0after the\u00a0coroner allowed them to do so by majority verdict today.
